Experience an entirely new side of the Redwood Route with our unique Hike to The Glen. This outdoor experience departs from our Fort Bragg Depot in the morning, following a newly-constructed trail along and over our rail line, following the gentle curves of the scenic Pudding Creek and taking you into the old growth redwood groves that were the original reason for our railroad’s creation.

Leave the ordinary behind as you step back in time and into a world where nature guides your way. The Pudding Creek is home to great blue herons, osprey, deer, river otters, and much more. On foot you’ll have plenty of time to stop and take in the peaceful environment, and truly experience the immersive transition from coastal climate through riparian and into the ancient redwood forest. Our talented guides will show you points of interest along the way, highlighting both the historical and natural touchstones of our unique route.

This three and a half mile hike will take you to The Glen, where you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch packed in an embroidered Skunk Train backpack (yours to keep). After your meal you can opt to either hike back to Fort Bragg, or to board the Pudding Creek Express train for your return, allowing you to experience the route in two completely distinct ways.

With a gentle slope, well-graded path, and sturdy bridges, this adventure is suitable for adults and children alike, as well as dogs. Capacity is limited to keep the experience intimate, so we recommend advance reservations to guarantee your spot.
